About the Event
Dear friends, welcome to our Annual Film Festival Live Event regarding the films submitted to Short Encounters during the year 2024. This is the festival’s 4th edition.
The event will take place in Preveza (Greece), will commence on Thursday the 22nd of May (2025) and conclude on Sunday the 25th. The Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday the 25th regarding all award categories.
During the 4th season, we had the privilege to welcome to our festival over 800 short films from all over the world.
From those, our judging committee has chosen 90 which will be screened live during our main IN-COMPETITION programme, competing for the annual awards in their respective categories. In addition, 5 short greek films will be screened live OUT-OF-COMPETITION.
Interviews and Q&A sessions with artists visiting the festival will take place during the screenings, while various artistic events will take place during the main awards ceremony on Sunday night.
The entire awards ceremony will be broadcasted via live streaming for all of those unable to attend at the festival’s YouTube Channel

The streaming will start at 8.00pm EEST and will last approximately for two hours.
The city
The town of Preveza is located at the mouth of Amvrakikos Gulf, in Western Greece. It is an area blessed with beautiful landscapes, green areas, great beaches, a rich history, ancient sites and monuments; in short you will find here numerous options for memorable holidays. Stroll along the harbor and the old town and see the beautiful traditional buildings; walk on the seaside pedestrian street and enjoy the island-like atmosphere; taste local dishes in a picturesque taverna or coffee shop which line the narrow slab-paved backstreets. It is the capital of Preveza Regional Unit where you will find the local administrative, commercial, cultural and tourist services.
Present day Preveza was built on the site of ancient Vereniki town, which was founded by Pyrrhus, the Greek King of Epirus in 290 BC. Preveza was built during the late 11th c., after ancient Nikopolis town was deserted. It was conquered many times across the centuries, until it became part of Greece in 1912.
How to get there. By car from Athens via Olympia Odos to Preveza, the journey is 4 hours. From Thessaloniki via Egnatia Odos to Filippiada-Preveza Road the journey takes 4 hours.
By plane you can reach Preveza (Aktion airport) from Athens International Airport, the flight lasts 45 minutes, as well as Macedonia International Airport (Thessaloniki). Direct flights to Preveza Airport are also available from many major European cities.
